Oil level stick

Post by Vandelen » Thu Sep 08, 2016 1:42 pm

Hello everybody,

I have a nice 1940 DKW NZ 350, so the version with aluminium motor.
The problem I have, is with the little metal tab that would measure the level of transmission fluid (the thing on the second image).

The fact is; I don't have one, which makes it hard (read: impossible  ) to guess the level of oil.
I have the lid, but the little tab is not present.

Could somebody with the same engine please do some measurements for me please? If I would know how long that tab is, and where the "min" and "max" notches are, I could probably recreate a working replica.
It would really help me out, since I don't want my NZ to run with too much or too little transmission oil :?

Thanks a lot!

Greetings from Belgium!

Hi,

Lenght of the tab is 5,5cm from the centre of the rivet. Max level at 4cm and min level at 5cm.
