Two NZ 350 from Norway

Post by TM250 » Sun May 08, 2011 11:44 pm

Having just finished two restauration projects I would like to give the following info:

#1: NZ 350 1938, frame no. 464297, Engine no. 1108433 (1941), delivered from the factory as a civilean bike, early version with golden "Zierlinien" painted on main central frame as well. This must only have been done on the very first machines. May have been requisitioned by Wehrmacht for use in Norway since a number og adaption would indicate military use, however, never repainted to "Wehrmachtgrau".

#2: NZ 350 1940, frame no. "007", Engine no.996633 (1940), delivered from the factory in grey "Wehrmachtsausführung" and probably arriving Norway in April 1940 as part of 163rd Infantry Division under General Engelbrecht. This division used the symbol "Trabender Elch" which has been faithfully reproduced for me together with other relevant texts and numberplates by "expertthomas" in Poland. The "Trabender Elch" was given the task of capturing Oslo and most of Southern Norway where I live. Lots of thanks to Martin de Graaf for inspiration and information and to Thomas for exellently made stencils.ImageImage

Hello Frank!

Thanks for your positive comment. I'll try to take some more photos on the next sunny day here. Incidentally, the infantry division 163 that I have "modelled" was later in the war sent to the Finnish front through neutral Sweden. I assume some of their NZ 350 must have seen action over there too.
Best regards

Hi,
Nice NZ's !!
Great that you did research about the WH-NZ and bring it back in it's org. condition how it came to Norway during the war.
The stencils are looking fantastic !
Great match with your hobby; spotting Elch in the wild.
I hope that more Nz-owners will do research about their NZ.
They can count on my expertise to realize that.

G'day,

Great work on the restorations you have done a fantastic job.

Hello Folks,

Thanks for all the comments from around the world. A truly international society this. As requested I am adding a few detailed photos. Notable on the military version are e.g.: P&S tacho, Hasag Zündschalter, new type Abblendschalter, Graetzin H 24/25 Vergaser, Benzinhahn acc. to Partslist, Spulenkasten SP 12R, Pagusa Sattel, front fork with vertical movement rubber stoppers, Seitenständer that fits perfectly (for a change as repro exhaust pipes may prevent proper use).

The civil version has: P&S tacho, Hella Zündschalter, old type Abblendschalter, Amal M76/426 Vergaser, Benzinhahn acc. to Betriebsanleitung, Spulenkasten SP 10a, Framo Sattel, front fork without vertical rubber stoppers, and a rare original Tankschutzdecke.

Hope these may be of some use!
