Hi,

The problem comes with the repro sidestand mount, when they are cast they use an original mount and not a proper wooden pattern. So when the metal cools it shrinks a little thats why the holes are wrong.

Hi All,

I have an identical petrol cap to this with English writing stamped in. Its on my 1937 SB500, which was imported into the UK before the war, Its a genuine import slightly different from the German model, chrome and paint. So that probably explains the English.

Hi Frank,

I ordered a standard piston, It comes with a slit skirt. When the Russians made this piston the slit was put in after the skirt was turned, this is what made the skirt spring out, I re-turned the skirt to get it to fit the barrel.
IT would not fit when it came.

Hi Frank,

I bought one of these pistons a while ago. As you said the price is ok but they are Russian, I had a problem that when the slit was machined the two halves of the piston sprang out slightly, making the piston out of round. not so good. And unusable without machining.

Hi,

I think the earlier NZ uses these brackets. The 1943 type and the 350-1 uses the pressed steel type.

I am still looking for the late bracket so we can get some made, there are quite a few people who want them on here.

Hi All, I used 3off NA49 needle roller bearings with inner sleeves and no seals. Modern rubber seals were used in place of the originals. You dont need to machine the mainshaft, just a rub over with emery cloth to remove any carbon or rust. They fit straight on. I used bearing fit retaining compound...

Hi Jeff,

I had the same problem, I had it welded, It just broke again, We could do with having them recast in modern aluminium.

Hi,

The nut is pressed in originally, I guess you could weld or braze a nut inside. As to the spring I dont think I have a spare, Ebay?

Hi,

I couldnt find these bearings in the UK at all. I ended up using needle roller bearings with the inner sleeve. Part number NA49. They seem OK.

Hi All,

These clips are not home made, if you look at the end its been pressed into a dish shape, so the corners dont dig in, they are hardened as well

Hi caravan,

You are missing quite a bit. There are 2 plates that locate on the handlebars, 2 friction discs, a star shaped spring, the knob you have is missing the middle thread M6, fits onto the long rod.
