Primary Chain

Hi all, I must report my success story! Thanks to Frank Nylund 's advice (again!) I purchased a new chain from FPH Moto-Rad in Krakow. The chain is Czech manufacture and is very good quality. I fitted the chain today, and my engine is now very quiet - I thought the metallic rattling was the small en...

Re: Air Filter Wanted (Luftreiniger Knecht) 111503

Hi Raimond,

yes, thanks, I'll have a look at the repro guys. The filter is for my friend's Harley Davidson - he saw the Knecht filter on my DKW and decided it would look good on his Harley! :D

all best, Chris

NZ350 and sidecar

Had a great day out with friends on a magazine photoshoot with my 1939 NZ350 and Simard sidecar. I have marked the bike as a reconnaissance battalion in the 352 Infanterie-division, and we are dressed in period correct uniforms and camouflage for Normandy 1944.

Kickstarter repaired!

Finally I have rebuilt my kickstarter! Thanks to Frank for his advice and for supplying a donor clutch basket with a good ratchet plate (mitnermerstuck) and kickstarterrad. Frank's old clutch had worn and missing teeth, which we knew, so I swapped the good parts to my clutch basket. I now have a reb...

NZ350 Kickstarter parts

Hi all, Are any of you breaking a 350 engine, or do you have a spare engine? My kickstarter is still jumping and I think the ratchet teeth are worn. I need the kickstarter ring that is riveted to the clutch basket (Mitnermerstuck 122227-1) and the corresponding ratchet ring (kickstarterrad 1222261-1...

Re: Clutch cable adjustment

As always, Frank, you are correct! I had lost the ball bearing. Replaced with a 1/4" ball and the clutch works perfectly! All we need now in UK is for it to stop raining so we can use our bikes! Many thanks, Chris

Clutch cable adjustment

Kickstarter problems resolved, but I'm having difficulties adjusting the clutch cable. The clutch will only disengage with the adjuster fully wound in. I've tried repositioning the clutch cable on the actuating arm, but there is only so much movement before it doesn't wok at all. Maybe I have wound ...

Re: re-corking clutch

Done it! The machined clutch basket spigot and a new hardened bush in the kickstarter rachet has sorted the problem. Wish I'd done this first rather than buy the wrong bits off the Internet! My re-corked friction plates seem OK, but I've not road tested the bike yet. Engine still not charging but I'...

Re: re-corking clutch

Hi Frank, Took the discs down to about 5.2mm average and that has done the trick!
Thanks

Re: re-corking clutch

Hi Frank, Thanks once again, you confirmed what I wondered. Perhaps the 7mm refers to the three plate 250? I'm having the back of the clutch basket machined, and the kickstarter rachet bushed to suit in the hope I can start the bike again! I bought (rather foolishly in hindsight) a IZH 49/56 transmi...

re-corking clutch

Hi all, just re-corked my clutch and I made my own corks to precisely 7mm, all 94 of them! as specified in the parts list, so the four friction plates add up to 28mm exactly. problem now is the combined friction plates and clutch steel plates add uo to 35mm, and the clutch basket is only 30mm deep (...

try www.minskparts.com They supply IZH 49 parts which will fit the NZ350. I'm just ordering a clutch assembly from them.
