Re: Start krad without spullenkasten?

Hi, The question was a bit unclear for me, but you can start the bike without the regulator and relay if you have an ignition coil, but be aware to dont connect the wires coming from the dynamo to the bikes electrical system, or to the battery, because without the regulator the voltage will rise too...

Re: dkw nz350 cylinder/piston size

Hi, The gudgeon pin is same on the old IZH models. Pistons from the old IZH are possible to use in DKW. I have no experience from IZH pistons myself, but according to old bikers here in Finland who have a lot of experience from IZH, tells that if you find old original Russian NOS pistons from 50`s o...

Re: dkw nz350 cylinder/piston size

Hi, A 72,5 mm piston is too small for your bore. On original war time German pistons the clearance was 0,17mm, but with other more modern pistons the clearance are smaller. Normally the cylinders are bored to a standard measure (72mm, 72,5mm, 73mm, 73,5mm and in some cases up to 74mm) and the cleara...

Re: Nz 350 -1 for sale

- Front and rear brake plates are the older alloy model - Horn is wrong - The "oberer gelenkhebel" and front shock absorber is wrong, this should have the later model of front shock absorber. - Carb is wrong, or at least the float bowl - Front fender rear bracket wrong - Front fender rear end looks ...

Re: Nz 350-1 for sale in romania

Hi, Very difficult to tell anything from those pictures, can be an IZH-350 as well. Many of the bikes offered as 350-1 have more russian IZH parts, than DKW parts and some of them are post war IZH with just some DKW parts. There are a lot of cheaters out there who wants your money. The only way to b...

Re: Dkw throttle problem

Hi Andy,

Yep, in the beginning (when you are used to a "normal" throttle) this old type feels very strange, but you get used to it very fast and then its quite nice and comfortable (at least in my opinion).

Re: Dkw throttle problem

Hi Andy, I dont think you have any problems with your throttle, it works as it should. This type of throttle used on NZ:s shall not return to idle position by itself as modern types do, it shall stay in the position its turned to and return to idle when turned in opposite direction. Some later model...

Re: Question to /43 rear wheel suspension

Hi, Yep, fully possible the main frame is NZ500 with a NZ350 engine, but the frame number is not a NZ500 frame, rather NZ250/350. Could also be a NZ350 frame with a NZ500 rear frame, hard to tell from the pictures. Hard to tell about the modifications, some can be war time, but some are postwar for ...

Re: Question to /43 rear wheel suspension

Hi,

Seems to be a cocktail of parts. If the frame number is 543870 its a -39 bike with a NZ500 rear suspension. One can also see that the frame is not from 1943, rather some pre -41 frame, when it still has the place for the steering lock. The part number 123505 on the rear plunger is NZ500.

Re: Question to /43 rear wheel suspension

Hi Guys, I also put my spoon in this soup  If you check the DKW "Fahrgestell nummern" list, it seems that when it ends in 1942, the following series are still not manufactured yet. http://www.dkw-nz.net/cms/upload/img_pdf_downloads/fahrgestellnr.pdf For the manufacturing number series 608501-60...
