Hi, I would suggest that you check the adjustment of the push rod. ensure the screw cap on the side cover is not screwed in too far, you need some free play here. Release the clutch cable at the handlebar end, screw the cap in till slight resistance is felt, then undo 1/2 to 1 turn. There should be ...

Idle is controled by the throttle screw, its the screw on the side of the carb pointing upwards at an angle, unscrewing it slows the engine, but before you do this set the air screw, its the one thats horizontal in front of the throttle screw, screw this in or out till you get the smoothest fastest ...

You need to aim for about 3mm of free play at the handlebar. If the adjusting cap is screwed all the way in either the rods too short or the steel ball that sits inside the adjusting cap is missing. You should feel the cap getting tight, then back it off half a turn so its not binding.

Dont use lead addative, it causes whiskering of the spark plug, This was always a problem with 2 strokes when we had leaded petrol.

Hello,

I think the earlier type was the screw down one with the leather panniers. Metal panniers are later, and the pictures show the spring clip fitting, but they are all interchangable. Have a look at the photos of original bikes on this site.

Hi Thomas,
I have an SB 500 as well as the NZ, What exactly do you get for your 270 Euros?. I am using cork at the moment running in Silkolene medium gear oil. Which works OK, but will need replacing at some time.

Thanks robImage

Hello Svenn, I belive the earth connection from the battery goes to a M5 threaded hole, just behind the front of the chainguard. As far as the loom is concerned I belive you are right, The parts books call for odd pieces of wire 2-3-4 ect. covered in cotton braided covering. You can make a very good...

Hi Thomas.

Thanks for the info. Do use this pressure on your bike? It seems very low.
