In my opinion your old cable just lost its cover (I had the same problem with an old IZH speedometer cable...).

You can not buy these cables without cover, but I think they are original with covers.

Can you answer my engine question in the DKW engine... topic?????Somebody else???

Does the original DKW NZ series frontwheel rims have any stampings on them (an MZAG sign or stg), if yes than where can I find them????

Are the IZH 49 series and the DKW NZ 350 frontwheel hubs the same???

I suppose that IZH bikes have the same part under the small sprocket and you can buy factory new ones... in Hungary about 20 EUR..(I dont know if the other part on you second picture is the same). Maybe even the 250 NZs have the same part as IZH bikes(the part on you first picture)

The "good news" are just attacking me all the time. Sure I had bad feelings about my frame, but now it seems to be coming true...
