How can I get the '44-'45 Tankwriting?

NEW, NEW, NEW !!!! For the NZ-350-1 late production, I've now perfect Stencils for sale. Look on "Parts for sale" from this site.


I'm restaurating my NZ-1 1944 for the second time in 25 Years.
There are some obstacles, such as: how do I get the 44-45 tankwriting done?
I don't like transfers, would to do it as in that time, with sjablons.
I need them for the Cyclon-Wirbelluftfilter and the Fenders too.
For example the orinal writings on the foto's below.
Can anybody help me further (also speaking German).

Hi Martin,

check for a company who does signs that are cut from adhesive foil. What you need is someone with a cutting plotter. Then you use your computer (or find someone who can do that) and have him/her made a stencil with a vector graphic programm. (sounds simple eh?). Give this file to the signmaker and let him make a stencil for you. Take the stencil, stick it to your tank and then spray some black enamel paint onto a small piece of foamrubber. Rub the foamrubber over the stencil and... here you are!!!
Any problems? Just let me know, I will try to asssist. Maybe someone in the forum can prepare the files, I could assist with the stencils.

Hi Thomas,
I've allready done that some time ago.
Problem is to find just the right letter-type and right "stencil-art".
That are letters for sjablons.
Nearest so far is VAG stencil-art.
But I'm not statisfied with it, it is just not good enough for me.
Also the spaces in the letters (were no black paint is) are different then the original ones.
Just wondering if anyone had experience or even had the right Sjablons.
Why should I find out the wheel while anyone else did?

Hi Martin,
I used to work in graphic arts years ago. Perhaps this trick might work for you. Once we find you the correct font to the one used on the tank stencils, type out and print up the stencils on a plain sheet of paper 1 to 1 size. Trim out each group or block of lettering. On the back of the paper tape a sheet of old fashoned black carbon paper with the ink side down. Place the stencil on the tank with the carbon paper on the painted surface and tape it down with painters tape. Draw over each letter on the paper with a ball point pen pressing firmly. The lettering should transfer onto the painted tank. Try not to rub your hand on the stencils as you use the carbon paper, it can smudge. Now go over the lettering on the tank with a fine point PAINT marking pen. You should be able to find them at any arts/craft store. When you are finished with the paint pen and it has dried completely, a light coat of matt clear sealer spray will protect the paint. It is time consuming, but it does work.

As far as the font type, let me search my old computer. I may have something.

Hello Aaron,
Look, that is a fantastic idea!!
It is cheap and I get what I want, I even can left space in the lettering, were normaly the lettering is fastend on the sjablon.
I've already the right fonts, so You don't have to search.
I will send the fonts and lay-out to this site.
