Carb Set Up

Post by SimonM » Tue Oct 11, 2011 9:11 pm

Hi all

Today my NZ 350 sparked into life for the first time since I got her to restore, and I am very pleased! I would like to ask a couple of questions:

- Does anyone know the adjustments when setting up a carb (Bing 2/24) for the first time? (as in how many turns for the mixture/jet screw).

- What packing/gasket do you use in the rings that hold the exhaust downpipes to the block? Mine are rather loose.....

Many thanks,
Simon

For the carburetor, close the air screw, then open it 1-1/2 turns. Then set the lock nut tight. This will set the idle mixture. You can adjust it from there. The needle in the throttle slide can be set to eight positions, depending on where you place the snap ring on the needle. You need to set it on the second position from the top of the needle. Make sure you clean the carburetor thoroughly before reassembly.

Once you get the throttle and clutch adjusted, you should take it out for a ride.

Hello chaps!
I 've found the adjustments data for the first three needle positions of AJ2/24. But which one is the good one for the carb (in after renovation condition)?
Someone says 1st, someone the 2nd? And the manual says the 3rd.
Really dont know :)

All the best!
Martin
