Questions about dkw nz 350 1943 (8)

Post by Robertasj » Sun Nov 27, 2011 2:53 pm

Dear Sirs,

I have some questions about 1943 dkw nz. I have 43(8) alu type motor and I want to collect the right parts for such a motorcycle. My questions:

1) which type of lamp should go to 43(8) dkw nz;
2) which type of fenders: 350-1 or like 1939-41?
3) brake plates: alu or steel ones?
4) speedo support: 60 or 80 mm?
5) horn: big one Hella or bakelit?
6) air filter: zyklon or earlier one?

Maybe somebody can show photos of such dkw modification?

Hi,

This is an interesting question. I dont know, is a bike from August 1943 a "normal" NZ350 or a NZ350/1943?

The airfilter was changed from the older mesh type into a zyklon from engine#1351257 onwards.

Can someone confirm a engine/frame number when they changed from NZ350 to NZ350/1943, should be interesting to know if the changed everything in one night, or over a longer time period?

A interesting thing is that on some pictures there are NZ350/1943 bikes with the older Hasag M165 instead of the M130, of course it can be war time field repairs due to lack of the correct parts.

Thats not to difficult to answer: First you can check your chassis no. If it starts with 612XXX, then it is definitely a NZ350/43. In th partslist D605/12 from 01.07.1944 there you can see all the parts for a NZ350/43.

To be more precise:

1) which type of lamp should go to 43(8) dkw nz; HASAG MT130 (The Rt125 lamp)
2) which type of fenders: 350-1 or like 1939-41? NZ350-1 Fenders
3) brake plates: alu or steel ones? Alu
4) speedo support: 60 or 80 mm? Speedo 80mm
5) horn: big one Hella or bakelit? Big HELLA
6) air filter: zyklon or earlier one? Cyclone Filter
