Hi gentleman,
I am curious if anyone has an number, how much of the NZ500's served in the German army (just in the WH, LW, SS) during the WWII.
There are some pictures over the internet where the WH and SS plates could be found, otherwise i read DKW was trying to offer the NZ500 with sidecars to OKW prior to the war, but without success.
BUT - as we can see, the German armed forces used these bikes and bikes with sidecars as well.
Does anyone know more to this topic please?
Thanks!
Martin

The NZ500 was not officially purchased by the Wehrmacht. In 1941, the German Authorities required all cars with 4-stroke engines and all motorbikes from civilians for military use. That way, the NZ500 found it´s way to service in the Wehrmacht. To determine an exact number of required bikes of a special brand of motorcycles used in the Wehrmacht is impossible.
