Interesting Russian klaxon

Post by martdapp » Thu Oct 25, 2012 2:37 am

Recently I saw an early ISH350 Bakelit klakson.
To my opinion it is the same as the German version for the NZ 350-1 and RT 125 nA. The early partmanual shows many parts that were the same as used on the NZ 350-1. But also these early ISH-versions and parts are hardly to find.
Also the little petrolcan and holder are to find in the early ISH-manual, but I never saw a sample. In fact, the early ISH was exact the same as the NZ-1
except the frontlamp was different and the engine was from alluminium.

The horn shown above, type C-35 was fitted on iz-350 from late 1948 till the end of production of iz-350.
Before there was another signal horn type ЭС-011 This signal is dated 02.'47 It was also fitted on motorcycles M72 and M1A in that period of time.

Cylinder seems to be from IZH-49, but cylinder head and engine blocks looks real and they all have auto-union markings inside of them.

also take a look at this VIN plate (very old !)

The earlier horn looks like a Bosch-horn.
Thank You for the tip, interesting that the Russians copied the Bakelit horn since 1948. I never saw such a Russian horn before and probably it's still more rare then the NZ-1 is.
More interesting is that they copied all parts that probably were not made by AutoUnion it self, but most likely by other factories.
I wish there was a seperat topic for the ISH350 on this site.

Why do I cannot open these files from the engine?

I think that in this all fast moving mess from Tschopau to Izhevsk
some of the factory machinery were lost or damaged while dismantling
them from the plant with no proper tools :)
Also it takes time to build the "LEGO" back in Izhevsk and understand how
the german motorcyling plant works.
That is why only few motorcyles were completed in
1946 from spare parts of NZ350-1, and you can hardly call them IZH-350 :)
In 1947 they made little bit more than 2000 units.
The real production increased in 1948 with around 16'000 units.

Hello Martin,
Your Bakelite horn is also contain in the parts list of the IZH 350 and looks just like the SECO-horn of NZ-1 or RT 125-1.
I also have a Russian horn, I think of the K55.
Must watch times.
