NZ350 - NZ250 ???????

Post by Motorboy13 » Thu Feb 21, 2013 9:58 pm

Hello people / fans of DKW DKW & NZ.

I am an young/new guy and have some questions.

I have been looking (for a while) for an DKW NZ 350, is a wonderful machine!!
with an great history.

ive also watched a lot on this site (also for info), but a good complete NZ350 for a normal price is hard to find (1 for restoration).

i have seen frequently NZ250's for sale, but what are the differences between the NZ 250 & NZ350????

I know ; cylinder / cylinderhead, flywheel? sprocket's F / R??,

But what else is different?

Are there parts that are no longer for sale (new reproduction)

Applies a cylinder of an NZ350 on an NZ 250 Block??

Is it wise to buy a NZ250 or better an NZ350 ???

I know that there are a lot of questions (from me )but i seriously like to know it all and this looks like the best place for it.

i like to hear all the details?? is there someone who knows this??

Greatings :D :D

Raimond

Hi,

There are a lot of small differences if you compare a NZ250/NZ350, ie.
-Cylinder/piston
-Crankshaft
-Engine blocks
-Flywheel
-Clutch
-Rear fender
-Rear light
-Fuel tap
-Rear and front wheel ( brakes)
-Luggage carrier
-Seat
-Front fork
-Exhaust pipe and mufflers

There are no big difference in finding parts if you are searching for used original parts for a 250 or a 350, some of the parts are easy to find and some very difficult (read expensive).

Repro parts are avilable for both models, but maybe more parts avilable for the 350.

In my opinion, there is no big difference if you buy a 250 or a 350, both are nice bikes.
In fact the 250 starts to be more scarce than the 350 in many countries.

Pay attention that some parts are very expensive and hard to find, and a lot of the bikes out there has a lot of wrong parts, so its worth to pay more for a bike that have all the difficult parts. In my world the difficult = expensive parts are:
- speedo
- ignition switch
- spulenkasten
- Carburator
- Front light
- NZ350 rear light
- fuel tap
- handle bar+levers
- horn

This is only my opinion, lets see what the opinion of other forum members are?

I wish you good luck in finding a bike!

Yes i do like the NZ350 more but an good NZ250 is no problem for me too .
as you say, to have all the good fitting oe parts that is almost inposible these days (from where i see it) i will look arround to find one ,but i don't no if there are any NZ350/250's left that are an litle original and comleet for restore.

Do you know one???

Frank ,wat is your experience with these NZ250/350's how is t to restore 1
& drive it ???

I am an Car Mechanic & Motorcycle hobbyist and it looks like and great job to do/ restore, but it could take some time (that is no problem for me ) are there guys who have used-parts leftover here on the NZ-net that will sell for an normal price and not for an Handlers top price???

Hope to here from you (and may be more of you)

I am an yong man (36 years) that hopes to Ride & have an NZ in the near
future but since i live in the Netherlands it is an litle hard to find them over here (for an normal price)

If you have any info/support/ or an NZ for sale just let me know.

Greatings

Raimond
