regler & shalter
Hello,
I'm trying to find how the shalter and regler works. all is the new, and it doesn't work. Do you know how to optimize de charge by truning the screw on the shalter and the regler ? Which resistance normally have to be the shalter and the regler mesureed separatly ?
Thanks
Ed

Re: regler & shalter
Hi,
I dont know if you have a 350 or a 350-1?
Here is some info about how the Regler and the Schalter works om the 350: http://www.nsu-greifzu.de/PDF/esp201z.pdf
The regler adjusts the charging voltage and the schalter disconnects the connection between alternator and battery when the charging voltage is lower than the battery voltage, this avoid the battery from getting empty.
Have you checked out that you have the right polarity on your alternator?

It's'a NZ 350, how do you check the polarity ?
Thanks again.

Thanks again.

Re: regler & shalter
Hi,
1.Dismantle the spulenkasten lid.
2.Connect the connectors 3(30+) and 1(connector for the bridge between schalter and regler) in spulenkasten with an wire for maximum 1 second (or with an flat end screwdriver between connector 3 and the metal bridge connecting both schalter or regler). Note! Dont connect the connectors for more than 1 seconds!
3. Thats it, a simple operation and your alternator have the right polarity after this operation.

Re: regler & shalter
Hi franck.
I've tried to connect no more than 1 sec the pole 3 and 1. When i'm doing it, it switch off the orange light on the ignition key on the gaz tank, this light switch on again as soon as i'm disconnecting pole 1 and 3.
It still not charging, the batt alone is 6,23V and when the engine is running it goes to 6,12 V.
Do you have any idea of what's happening?
Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed,
To check out if your problem is the alternator or the Regler/Schalter, try to do as Thomas writes in the last mail in this topic:

Re: regler & shalter
Hi frank,
I checked first the regulator whatching the link you told me.
When i connect 1 and 20 the charging light does not switch off, so normally the regulator is not out,
Then after dismounted the regulator cartridge (shalter and régler) i put a voltmeter between 1 and the ground on the spulenkasten, i read approximatively 1 volt, less than one volt when engine is running slow, and 1 volt when engine running faster.
So normally the dynamo is OK.
What do you think it could be??
I'm completly lost !!!!
Thanks,
Ed

Re: regler & shalter
I've take out the dynamo, to check the brushes, no problem with that, and the spule resistance is 3,1 ohm on one wire and 10,6 ohm on the other one, my question is normally rhe big that is in series withe the feldspule should not be 13 ohms ??? (10 + 3)
Thanks
Ed

Re: regler & shalter
Hi Ed,
The values you have measured sounds ok for me. Tried to measure 2 feldspulen I have and got the following results:
- Between 1 and 20 9,2-9,4 Ohms
- Between 1 and earth 12,2-12,4 Ohms
- Between 20 and earth 3,7-3,8 Ohms
Note: these values are measured with the anker dismantled and from the black bakelite connector in generator housing.
// Frank
I will do some more measurements more tomorrow evening and get back to this issue.

Re: regler & shalter
Hi again Ed,
I tested as in the instruction on my own bike:
1. I dismantled the Regler/Scahalter combination from spulen kasten.
2. I connected connectors 1 and 20 (D+ and DF) in spulen kasten with a jump wire.
3. I connected a Voltmeter between connector 1 in spulenkasten and earth (the jump wire still beween 1 and 20).
4. Started the bike and the voltmeter fluctuated between 18-19 Volts on idle.
So, if you try like this and dont get any higher voltage than 1-2 Volts as you wrote, then you have to search the dynamo (field coil, brushes, anker or the wiring between dynamo and spulenkasten)
Good luck!

Re: regler & shalter
If the bike has been long, so there is no residual magnetism is in the alternator.
Then this from no voltage. Is in any case already been with me like that.
