Newbee question

Post by Peter DL » Mon Apr 09, 2007 9:14 pm

Dear Gentlemen,

Searching for info on NZ 350 I bumped into your website, it sure seems like all experts are present here.

Normally German military optics are my "thing", but this weekend I have been offered this DKW, I believe it to an NZ 350. After two sleepless nights because of it (haven't driven a motor since 1982), I've decided to try to make a childhood dream come true, and go for the darn thing.

Would you gentlemen be so kind as to give me a bit of a head start on this one; Unfortunately I can't seem to add pictures to this tread so I can't show it to you all, but; should this be an NZ 350 indeed, what would be a reasonable price to pay for it? I couldn't find any data on the motor itself whatsoever.

Thanks!

Peter.

Peter I am by no means a DKW expert, Thomas or Martin are for sure. But from what I see it looks to be pretty good and complete. If it was me and I could afford it, I would probably jump at it. Prices for DKWs are going to keep going up along with all other WW2 stuff. If you can afford it and you like it you should take it. With all the info here on the website, you should have it up and running, if it already isn't, soon.

Now that's just my silly American opinion, you must decide for yourself. Hope that helps alittle.

Any other comments from any other DKW owners? :)
Paul

Hi Guys,
is this bike from eastern europe? Seems to have some russian ISH parts.
It looks like fenders are from ISH, there's no speedo, horn is not original.
Unfortunatelly I don't know prices on western europe, but if it has some ISH parts, you should be very carefull - original ones are expensive.

Greetings

Pics!

Post by Peter DL » Tue Apr 17, 2007 10:57 pm

Dear gents,

Here are the pics I've promised. Would it be possible for you all to shoot at them from every direction possible? Some things are wrong, that I know for sure. For instance the battery is being kept in place by beer cards and a piece of wood, surely not the way it was done originally. It's ID tag is missing, no proof of one ever being attached (no holes for fixation). Mud scraper is missing. Then the triangular box with Audi markings contains what seem to be the foot support for the second passenger. No pics of this box whatsoever on this site to be found. The front light has some peculiar markings. As always, your input is greatly appreciated (even if negative)Image

Hi Peter,
It looks like there is a place for ID plate. There are no holes, because old rivets are still there - you can see remains of them near the frame number.
The tool box is not original from DKW NZ.
Fuel tap is from Russian bike.
But your bike is very nice. Congratulations!!!

Greetings

Dear Peter, Glali and others,

Many thanks for your input!!! So the head lamp and the fuel tap will need to go for cearten! Being new to all this, it is simply AMAZING that that many parts are still available, and I must say that the info on this site is REALLY awesome!!!! Any further comments are extremely welcome!

Thank you all for your kind assistance!!

Peter,
maybe just glass is not original. Give us some pictures of this lamp from inside (without glass, ring and mirror).
There are many parts, but you must be carefull. Many Ish parts are similar to NZ350-1. First of all you should check air cleaner (inside should be 2 small springs) and fenders.
I don't know how to explain differnce between Ish and DKW fenders, but if you give me pictures of both fenders edge from inside I will tell is it ok or not.
Greetings
