Supplement headlight for HASAG M165

Post by stalker » Sun Aug 10, 2014 11:20 pm

Hi,

Which headlight and chrome ring fits my lamp? I do not want to buy repro parts and my original parts are well beyond recovery. It would be the easiest to use some other bike's lamp... Maybe a tractor or whatever has the same dimensions. Regular motorbike lamps are smaller as I checked it out no MZ or JAWA or any hungarian bike whatsoever has the same dimensions. I use a Trabant 12V halogen headlight in my IZH and it fits nd works like a charm with halogen bulbs even...

Thanks

Hi Stalker,

There are good repros available, but if you dont want to use them it can be quite hard to find a one that looks quite similar as the original Hasag.

Modern glasses are too flat and looks ugly, even if its quite easy to find the right diameter glass/mirror.

I remember I got a tip some years ago, that a 50`s Opel Kapitän front lamp will fit. I have never checked out that tip, but those lamps has the right shape and looks quite ok.

Wow, thank you very much!!! I will check it out! What do you mean under "modern" though? What other choiches do I have?

I saw the repros, but if the bikes ever gets completed, I would want to use halogen bulbs...

Hi,

With "modern" i mean for instance Bosch 301600006 used on Fiat, Volvo, Lada etc. Fits but dont look nice. Those are made for conventional bulbs.

I have not checked out the part number for "Super modern" with halogen bulbs.

Did the 4T Trabant had the same headlight dimensions? Just to stay at dirt cheap parts...

The Trabant headlight does not really fit. The small amount of deformation of the chrome ring does not seem to be the problem. Should I replace the chrome ring too? If yes than which car or bike has a fitting one for the 195 mm lamp housing?

Let's say that I have the correct ring and the glass, what is the value?
Unfortunately the glass is broken into 4 pieces when moving last year..
Clean sides so it could be glued I guess?
Still looking for a complete m165.. maybe we can help each other?

Well, both together can be brought around a 100 Euros, repros naturally. Value depends on current "well being" of the parts...

I have not yet found a supplement lamp... probably some tractor yould be the solution.

If anyone still wonder; the Opel Kapitän 1951 headlamp dos NOT fit. I bought one and try it out, but it is to big.
