Filz-Beilage #12664

Post by svenn » Sun Sep 09, 2007 10:37 am

Its pictured in spare parts list nr 58 together with the gasoline tank,

What its purpose, and where does it go? I can figure out from the pic an aprx size, but if anyone has correct meassruements it would be great.

Its not the rubber piece that goes between the rear of the tank and frame, if anyone wonders.

Hi Svenn,

it seems, that this felt pad is used an all DKW NZ. Also partslist D605-12 1944 lists it. I have no definite explanation for it, but I assume that it is glued against the underside of the tank, very close to the front mounting points. In this position, it might protect the tank from punctures when it is removed, as can be seen in the picture below.

Anyway just a guess from my side. Regards

Hi Thomas! Thanks for the reply. I could not see any traces of the felt on my tank, but I share your thoughts - It has to be something protecting the tank.

Nice picture BTW - what is #3 on the pic? A wooden block? used for rising the tank before removing the engine?

Good morning Svenn,

correct, this is just an ordinary block of wood. The picture is taken from the manual NZ350 D605-11.
