Hi Thomas,
well, I'm not sure if it's 350-1 speedo. Ring for glas is made from alu, bottom is bakelit. As I know, all pre 45 speedos has on botom stamped month and year of production. And this white plate with black numbers. I think it should be black with white numbers.
If I can be honest, I think this is early post war speedo.
I'm waiting for years for someone who can show me speedo on bike that is still in original condition. Or original picture from wartime where I could see details of speedo.
Maybe one day my dreams come true
Greetings
Peter

Hi Peter,
that e-bay speedo looks very much the same as the one that Paul posted further above. Maybe this black speedo is the right thing? Paul, if you read this, can you find out who made the speedo that you have? Maybe these black speedos were made by ISGUS and P+S simultaniously, as the 80 mm speedo of the earlyer NZ's.
regards
Thomas

Hi Paul,
today I browsed through some old DKW pictures on my HDD and found the attached pictures. In April 2004, Mike Dunn send me some pictures of your NZ350-1 together with the ones below.
Picture 1)
Picture 2)
Picture 3)
What makes these pics very interesting, is that it shows two different speedos with a very similar apperance.
The speedo with the glass missing shows in picture 2) (one the picture were it lays in the cardbordbox) some beige overspray overspray, which makes it very authentic.
The speedo fitted to the NZ shoes a very interesting/rare VDO marking. I have contacted VDO today, and they wrote that, judging by the odometer wheels this is definitely a VDO speedo, but they have no evidence that this VDO-logo was ever used. If it could be verified that this is a VDO-Speedo, they would be very interested in further information. (!!)
I would like to ask you for a big favour and send some detail pictures from the backside of both speedos, because these speedos should have the manufacturing date embossed on the rear.
Paul, presently it looks to me that there is a good chance, that you have not one but two original NZ350-1 speedos, from two different OEM suppliers.
Please help

Thomas I have a slight problem getting photos right now. I have put the bike and parts in storage as I am deploying back to Iraq in a few weeks. I may have one more chance to check out the speedo before I leave but that will be in a few weekends. If I can get some pics I'll get them posted.
