Dkw throttle problem

Hi all. I have just fitted a new throttle, the through the handle bar type . How can I make it twist smoothly. I have greased the slide but it doesn't return quickly. I've tried putting a stronger spring in the card but I found it to be quite a strain on the wrist when riding. Has anyone had this problem and did you overcome it. Thanks , andy

Hi Andy,

I dont think you have any problems with your throttle, it works as it should.

This type of throttle used on NZ:s shall not return to idle position by itself as modern types do, it shall stay in the position its turned to and return to idle when turned in opposite direction.

Some later models even has a adjustment screw and a small leaf spring in the throttle armature, so you even can adjust the stiffness.

Hi Frank. Thanks for the reply. Not a very good system is it. :D will have to get use to it then. Makes it very hard to get off the dkw and onto my fireblade ......

Hi Andy,

Yep, in the beginning (when you are used to a "normal" throttle) this old type feels very strange, but you get used to it very fast and then its quite nice and comfortable (at least in my opinion).
