And here you find the numbers assigned to the german armed forces and the Waffen-SS. These numbers were assigned to the regional commands and then given to the units to hand out number plates for their vehicles. So you can find a close relationship between units and their region, in case of the Waffen-SS it is even possible to find the exact unit.

Well Wilhelm that's good news!
I allready searched for a number for my NZ 350-1 from 1944.
It's for sure from the 116. Windhund-division (left by Aachen in nov. '44).
The 116. Pz.Div. was formed in Rheine, Wehrkreis VI on 28 March, 1944.
So, to Your information Wehrkreis VI is Münster in Westfalen (WH 60.000-69.9990).
- Is 69.999 used for the last War-month in '45?
- Are there different numbers for Bikes, Cars or Panzers etc. ,
- or even for different - divisions who belong to that Wehrkreis?
- Could You tell me what number between 60.000 and 69.9990 is
acceptable for my NZ?

OK, this is what I know about this:

- there were no difference made between any type of vehicle
- there were no special key for a special division, but in my personal
opinion, I would start first with e.g. the 20th division and then I would
assign the numbers of the 21st division. But I found no information on
that.
-the numbers above are not complete, during the war there were
assigned more numbers, e.g. I know a photo of a "Schwerer
geländegängioer Einheits-PKW" (Heavy offroad car) in my home town,
having assigned a number plate with the number 225XXX on it and
belonging to Wehrkreis X. The numbers above were found with the date
of late 1939, so the list is not complete.

You can choose any number of Wehrkreis Magdeburg, but if you own a photo of a specific bike, that would be best...

A late war bike like the NZ 350-1 would have assigned a higher number.
But Rheine is correct, my Grandfather served there with the 212 ID.

If I can get later-war numbers, I will post them in this Thread.

The number is not included in my list...

Maybe a later in the war assigned number?

I will look if I can find out anything.

But if you look at the Uniforms, there is the SS-Eagle on the left sleeve, but no or black collar badges and no rank insignia. So it may be some kind of an Einsatzgruppe of the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) behind the front or SS troops at the Western front 1940.

I found the following text in german:

At 19.06.1939 all number plates were new issued from WH - 1 and WL - 1 on with no sense or meaning and not belonging to any Wehrkreis to protect against foreign intelligence. All party organizations did the same. Tanks had no number plates. The latest numbers known of end with WH - 1893000 and WL - 628000 in winter 1944/early 1945. Lists are available at the german military archive, listing lots of vehicles, so it is possible that you can define the unit of your specific bike if you are lucky and it is listed.

(You need the number plate combination, they keep no frame-numbers!)

Thomas, do you have any idea what kind of sidecar is it exactly?
Is it the some of the EW-1 or EW-2 (BW-43) Behördenmodels?
The sidecar looks very similar to the german army models.

Okay, the thread is old, but to the sidecars: The bag holder looks too old for BW43, the position lamp on the second sidecar looks like BW38 for Zündapp, so I think maybe BW39, but more likely BW38.
