Following, a diagram of the cyclone filter taken from a DKW publication of the thirties. The cyclone shown is not identic to NZ, but the principle is matching.



The numbers mean:

1 - Cleaned airstream
2 - Air intake to engine
3 - Cover hatch
4 - Airstream shovels for the cyclone effect
5 - Unfiltered airstream
6 - Housing
7 - Dust box holder
8 - Dust entry on top of dust box
9 - Rubber ring
10- Dust box cover
11- Dust
12- Spring for dust box cover
13- Dust box
