Are you aware that the early NZ350 and the later NZ350 have different kickstarters?
On the early NZ350 the kickstarter peg swings 180 degrees inwards when taking the "kicking position" as the starting position. The peg is pointing straight inwards (3-o'clock position when looking from the drivers point of view) when not in use.
On all NZ350 from 1942 onwards the kickstarter peg only swings inwards only approx 130 degrees. The peg is therefore pointing in the 1-o'clock position when looking at it from the drivers position.
