Verbus screw head

Post by Martins » Thu Feb 25, 2010 11:14 pm

Hi !
It was very rusty, but it seems to be a Verbus screw head. Were these screws used on any other motorcycles apart form DKW ?

Yes, on nearly every bike. Verbus produced screws in the same style until the late 70`s. But they are original on the NZ (E.g. for the tank).

How about "KAMAX" screws? I know that they were used on BMW´s Kettenkrad and Kübelwagen!

By the way, does anyone know where to get parkarized (black to grey) screws. I know that Oldtimergarge sells Ribe screws, but 4 Euros for each is in my opinion a bit expensiv. I dont want to use modern screws and paint them.

Hi

Check out www.wehrmachtsgespann.de, they seems to sell Ribe screws, at least the price is cheaper than Oldtimergarage.

Yes, try him, H.P. Hommes is some kind of a legend in the R75 and KS750 scene.

Also if you find some old Ribe or Verbus screws you can do the parkerizing by yourself. Gunsmiths still use the method and maybe you can find one and buy the chemicals needed direct from him. On this site they seems to sell a do-it-yourself perkerizing kit: shootersolutions.com, I am sure that there are others too that sells this stuff.

Verbus and KMAX screws were used on Zundapp KS750's as well. Here is a nice chart on these screws which explains alot.
