Strange letters on a left lid from a NZ 350-1 Grauguss-motor

Last I bought a left lid of a "Grauguss"-motor. Besides DKW NZ-350-1,
there is also two times the number 12 to see. I've never seen such before and don't know what those numbers 12 mean? Are there any other numbers known? See the picture

As I wrote to you in the german forum, I consider the numbers as pre-production signs from the casting mould to separate the individual concepts from each other. Later production series engines have no numbers at all. For owners of early engines (March/April 1944) an interesting part.

Hallo Wilhelm,
Thanks for Your expertize, am now just curious if there are also any other combinations.
Who has also such a numbered lid on a complete Motorblok?
Then it is to judge with more safety assess, if it was for earlier NZ-1 only.

I have to change my opinion to what I wrote above...

Found that numbers on my late war engine (January ´45) too, hidden behind the gear shift...

But my numbers are 21 12 read from left to right.

So it could be production week 21 since the beginning of the NZ 350-1 production, in production line 12 or for engine part number 12.

Your engine part could be factured in week 12 since the beginning of the productions of the cast iron engine.

But normally these numbers were not on the engine, they were normally removed in the assembly line, I think.

Hello Wilhelm,
In my archive I found some other number-combinations to,
but they are not to read from the pictures.
It would be great when we could find out what motor-numbers belong to the numbered lids.
Then it would be possible to say wich manufacturing-years DKW-NZ produced those numbers.
For example; from what buildingyear/number is/have Your motor-blok?
I have only a single lid so I can not say anything about it.
My own NZ-1 from 44 does not have those numbers.

Thomas,
Is it possible to report these number-combinations as an addition to the database?

My whole engine block is stamped 1/45, so it were built in January 1945.

I will take pictures soon and post them here.

That is the question in this topic. (not the motornumber)
Is it possible for You to gave a picture in?
Otherwise mail it to me, then I will do it. (martdapp@hotmail.com)
What building-year is Your motorblock?
