Controlbox SP13R with 2 or 3 Lid Screws

Post by thomas591 » Wed Nov 22, 2006 6:59 pm

Hi,

which controlbox for the NZ350-1 is original? The one with two screws holding the cover or the one with 3 screws holding it?

Any ideas?

Hi Thomas,

I guess with 2 screws. Maybe someone who has complete controlbox could help us.

Hi Foks,

it seems that both covers are original.

According to the partslist of the RT125 from 1942, the controlbox has 2 screws.

On the other hand, we have an original bakelite cover shown in the "parts-Section" with three screws.

The only possibility, is that the three screw cover is very early post war.

One day we will find out (I hope).

Thomas,

I'm sure that cover with three screw holes is a post war SP14.

Hi Peter,

possibly yes, but why does the bakelite cover has a ordonace stamp-code issued by the "Materialprüfungsamt" (A goverment agency) in it?

There would be absolutely no need to use this ordonance codes after the war.

Best regards

Thomas,

I don't know if it's Materialprufungsamt stamp, but I saw covers with 3 holes only at SP14.

Maybe they did't change maschine that was making covers, and stamp was still in it?

Greetings

Not only Sp14...

Post by Arloff_NZ » Fri Sep 21, 2007 9:02 am

The cover shown on the page comes from a complete controlbox Type Sp13R with three screws . It should be wartime production as it has the changes needed to fix the small "half-moon" metal piece to secure the ignition key... . Also I'dont know any cover from postwar times which contains such a wiring plan and is not completely black ...

Hi Arloff-NZ,

thanks for posting! For me this is evidence enough.

I am drawing the following conclusion:

The NZ 350-1 was delivered with two different controlboxes. The first c-box has a cover that was attached to the body by two screws, the second, later, type with a cover that was attached with three screws.

Are there any objections to the above??

Best regards and thanks to all DKW-NZ-Sherlock-Holmes
