Its, just like on the back, a unit marking.
I can read G.R. 111 (means Grenadier-Regiment 111).
And below that a sign for an Infanterie/Grenadier unit.

Its the second battailon, can´t make out the kompanie though.

Yes i can, what date would you like to know?
They fought on the easternfront and in 1945 surrenderd in Danzig and Hela.

I am now sure that its G.R.111 from the 35. Infanterie-Division.
This because i see the 35. Infanterie-Division logo on the back (a fish).

It could be the 5. Kompanie, but i´m not sure.

Gotrick you are cool! A horde of knowledge...

Can you tell me also were the unit was employed from late 43 to its surrender in 45? All the time in east-prussia?

Would you be able to make a scetch of sign? I am thinking of using it on my NZ-43

Regards

Here is what i see. Not sure about the "5" kompanie, but the number must be between 5 and 8 because its the second battailon.
If you wish to change the kompanie number, make sure that 1-4 is I Btl. 5-8 is II Btl. and 9-14 is III Btl.
