I understand you are afraid that "restoring" the bike would lower the collector value? I would like to know your view on this, because if the restoration job was done in a way that copied the original appearance, it could save the parts from further corrosion. Leaving the bike in that rusted condition will cause more damage over time.

Hello,
in my opinion all or most of the original colour could be saved. This means to me to get rid of open rust, the to get back the original colour to it`s old glance, e.g. by Acetone and at least to preserve all the colour by a usual car-finish preserver. All extremely rusted parts should be coloured new and sensitive in a matching colour tone. In any case I would try to preserve as much original look as possible. Of course the whole bike should be dismantled and every part should be cleaned very intensive.
