A new NZ 350 1943 from france!

Post by Doudou » Tue Apr 20, 2010 6:16 pm

Hi everybody,

I'm restauring a NZ 350. I think it's an NZ 350 1943.

Manufacturing year may be 1943...

Frame number: 598 956 (number remarquared as it was the number on the papers! but the orginal one was incomplete and partially erased :(

engine number 267 777 -72 ( stamped 8 43)
and the cylinder is stamped 5 39

This bike stayed in a farm for about 30 years, i had it last september. with a little bit of gaz and my harley wla battery it starts with no problem!!!

The colour was green ( like a pin tree) probably repainted after the war. But under this green i foud a whermacht dark yellow, and somewhere parts of olive green.

I think it's a 1943 because of the parts on the bike. Perhaps i'm wrong.

I got first model fender (front and rear)
Alu engine,
Bing carburator with second model air filter
80mm p&s tacho
first model gaz tank with rubber and the back
SP12 R spulenkasten

The head and tail lamp are missing,

The abblendshalter is missing,

The decompression, brakes and clutch lever are not the good one

I'll send you pictures tomorrow

Oh, i' forgot something,

what is strange is that on the front fender the support for the number plate is for the short one, not so long as i've seen on most photos of NZ 350.

And just after the support of the this plate i got four holes 20mm x 78mm, seems to be original ones....

Can you help me???

thanks

hi,

I've already ask for the light, it's on the way, for the seat, i got two, one one the bike seems not to be an original (i meen i had several problems to adapt it!) And the other one, i'm not sur the structure is good. Would you show me some photos of a good one in detail, particularly the mounting.

Do you what plate is going on my front fender?? (in the 4 holes on the photo)

Thanks again
Edouard

The saddle is IZH and the rear fender is a reproduction, so it could be that even the front fender is one, but that one looks good to me (the rear fender has much too deep sides). Did you replace that parts? Otherwise the farm story could be a sale-powering idea by the seller, russian parts on french farm bikes are not very believable...

The rear fender is a good one as the front is. I had the original color under the paint. but i ha to work a lot on the rea fender beacause it was completely destroyed. So it probably doesn't look like exactly a good one!!!

The 4 hohles are not original Wehrmacht, perhaps that some-one after the war made a plate from a holyday tour on it.

If this bike is from 1943, then there should be no knee cushions on the side of the tank and the bike should not have the licence plate mounted on the front fender. The plate on the front fender was omitted from August 1942 onwards.

If the licence plate holders were also painted originally in Wehrmacht colours then the bike is from pre-August 1942. Otherwise someone added them at a later date, maybe to make the bike look "older"

Regards

When is the type NZ 350-43 introduced?
I mean, is it possible that in the beginning from 1943 the NZ 350 WH was still in procuction?
Because a friend of mine has a NZ-350 from 1943, but it is not a NZ 350 type 43 with smaller fenders, other headlamp, no knee-pads etc.

Presently it seems that the NZ350/43 startet its live from chassis no 612000 onward. Yes, you are correct there were "standard" NZ350's build in 1943. For reference I recommend the DKW database.

I checked the database. According to the chassis # this bike is from beginning of 1942 not 1943.
