stripped NZ 350-1 from 1945 in original color?
1. NZ 350-1
2. 1945
3. something like 66125?
4. not read it yet
What do you think about this bike. Is that green color original? There is good looking dunkelgelb under it. Shall I wash of the green color? Does anybody have any idea what would be the best way to do it? [/img]http://img859.imageshack.us/i/dscn0336b.jpg/[/img]
Thanks

Try with Aceton or oven cleaner on a not visible place to get the colour off. Pre 1945 colour like the sandgelb will stay at the bike, when the green colour stays on, it may be pre-1945, otherwise it will come off the bike, but don`t use any abrasives. In my opinion, the green colour is postwar.

new pictures
Here are some new (and I hope better) pictures of the bike. It seem there is dunkelgelb, green, very light green and dark red colour on it If you look at the petrol tank you can see that the green was the last color. I am not sure now if this green could be original especially when the light green and red one lies under it. Thakns for any coments.

The tan was the original color, and was applied over a red primer. Looks to me like someone painted over the original tan with green. You can still see the original stencils on the petrol tank. It would be nice if most of the tan can be saved and areas that are red or green could be painted to match. Take close up pictures of the stencils on the tank so you know how to reproduce them if you decide to repaint the entire tank.

All the green colour with red striping and the dark red colour is postwar. Seems to me that the fenders were painted green with red striping and the tank sole red after the war. Only the tan and the lighter red areas are prewar.
Please try to remove the postwar colour softly, and don`t repaint the bike or parts of it! This will decrease authenticity and value of your bike.

Hello Arnost,
Very nice motobike in original color !
I just see on your photo that you have the original little electric jack to put off easly and quickly the batery.
Is it possible to have photos of détail of this jack. It's the same as on the manual D605/27 of the NZ-1 from 5.8.1944, p40

Thanks,
Lolo.

Congratulations Arnost,
very nice bike in its original color.
Personally, i absolutly would keep it the way it is, almost all bikes are repaint, very rare to see an original one!
Kind regards,
Panama

Thank you all for the comments. Expecially to Zylinder owner of the best DKW NZ 350-1 in the world:).
Sorry for late answer. We will try to keep the bike as it is, expect of some still missing parts (spedo, front wheel in orriginal color etc). We were able to find orriginal packtaschenhalter in orriginal color. It is the last modell simmiliar to the one used on KS750 or R75 bikes:)
To Lolo I will do pictures and some measurements of the batery conector soon.
