Hi,

what do you mean by "smaller"? Same look, but different diameter? What would be the diameter for RT125 and DKW NZ 350?

Cheers,

No, I search for a different one.

Can anyone tell me where the pictures from the "horn thread" have gone?

I even miss the whole "Packtaschen"-topic (The one for metal made ones), where some different boxes were compared by owners....

To get a little light in that topic I will post some separate answers to tell you what I am looking for.

According to the manual D 605/27 this is the correct horn for the DKW NZ 350-1:

That would exactly fit your picture:

But I own the following horn without the little SECO-seal on the front, which I consider as the right one for the DKW NZ 350-1.

In early 1942 the so called "RB-Nr." for "Reichsbetriebsnummer" (Number given to a special factory) where given to all factories producing for the german armed forces, to avoid allied bombing when military items where captured. E.g. I own a typical Pagusa pillion seat without the Pagusa writing, only with an empty oval field.

My horn is the typical SECO 1944 horn, made from bakelite, but without the seal, this can only be a production for military use to avoid giving production information to the allies. In fact, these horns were not painted, as can be seen in the manual.

The horn I am searching for was made also by SECO Wien.

This is to be considered as the later serial horn for the DKW NZ 350-1 as the D 605/27 often includes prototype pictures, which not entered the real serial production. The pictures are from the horn thread, but it is now missing... :?

Hella earlier produced an horn with nearly identic design.

But the most favorable thing on that SECO horn is that they wrote "Patent SECO Wien, Made in Germany" on it... as Wien (Vienna) is today in Austria again, this is a very fine document for the time 1938 to 1945.

Horn dimensions

Post by thomas591 » Sun Jan 17, 2010 1:08 pm

Hi Kraftrad,

the "smaller" horn for the RT125 has a front diameter of approx 9,5cm, the "bigger" horn for the NZ has a diameter of approx. 11,5cm.

Hi Wilhelm,
I had the same problem with my SECO horn - I couldn't open it.
How to do it?
1. First of all use WD40 (or other oily spray for rusty and dirty screws);
2. Repeat it few times a day over 3-4 days;
3. Attach the horn in vice (or use your hands as a vice);
4. Put the rubber gloves on your hands;
5. Try to unscrew the front part like a cap of the jar.

Good luck!

..as far as I know, the NZ350/43 uses the Hella horn.
