NZ 250 bing carb problem?

Post by Oldsmokey » Wed Mar 04, 2020 6:59 pm

I have bought the following bing carb:
https://www.oldtimervergaser.de/de/bing ... z-250.html

Once fitted, it will run for about 2 seconds then die.
The main jet is a 2.70 is this correct?

It had a dellorto carb fitted, and when I put this back on it started easily and didn't die, so I know the engine is good.

Any idea please?

Hi,

The carb in the link is a post war Bing, very similar to the old AJ, but it should work perfectly on a NZ. The pre war Bing was a AJ 2/24 and on those the main jet was 100 and the needle jet 270.

Sounds like there is something clogged in the carb, or the fuel level in the floater bowl too low, if it only runs for some few seconds

Dismantle the carb totally, check the hole in the float bowl cap, all holes and jets in the carb so they are not clogged and also check the fuel level in the float bowl.
