Jakub,

I have this same speedo that came with my DKW NZ350 and it doesnt fit? The outter shell of the speedo is hitting one of the supports for the forks. Its a bit too big?

Jakub,

As you can see below this is the speedo that came from you. I have no idea why it doesnt fot correctly? The speedo holder is a real DKW part and not a fake or reproduction( see the part number).

Image

Now you can see I have placed the speedo in the hole.

Image

The speedo fits perfect.

Now look at what happens when you try and push it in, the speedo rubs.

Image

If i take the speedo holder and raise it up, than the speedo will drop down but this is wrong.

Image

This is not correct and its too high on the forks. I cant be the only person who has this problem Jakub? This is the dia on the speedo it is 80mm, look at the picture.

Image

Even the front forks are correct, look at the part number on them.

Image

I would like to get a new speedo from you if you feel this is the problem?

I know exactly what the problem is and it is the reason why I did not buy one of these speedos. An original speedo has an indent in the main body to accomodate the suspension. All these repro ones do not. I got over the issue by grinding out a section and fibre glassing it up. On german ebay I have seen someone selling the repro housing for speedos that has the correct profile. I know this is correct as I had an original speedo that came with my bike and I sold it in a moment of stupidity. see this one on ebay now- my original had a housing similar to this

Mike its an easy fix- with an angle grinder or dremel cut a mouth shaped section out and then cover it up - I used fibre glass. All of the internals for the speedo are near to the top. email me at sallyzoegraeme3@ntlworld.com and I will take a photo. It looks a bit messy but works fine and is never seen. I have actually now done this proceedure twice on 2 speedos. Lots of 80mm speedos out there- not many with the correct profile underneath/

Jakub,

Yes I have had this speedo for over a year because the bike sat in my garage with 10 other motorcycles and I didnt sell the bike untill now. So now that the bike is sold I went to go mount the speedo and it doesnt fit. This is EXACTLY why when the bike was sold too me it was not installed and the speedo came seperate.

I am telling you and you can see Grame is having the same problem with these speedos.
