NZ Rubber seats, which type to use?

Post by welbike » Wed Apr 16, 2008 9:36 am

Moved this from the other saddle topic:

Hi All,
Just back from the spring Veterama, and looked at a lot of saddles, but which is the correct one for a 1944 350-1 NZ ?? there's the covers with the DKW logo, with the round Pagusa logo, and the (prewar?) script Pagusa logo, so which is correct ??

I need to know for my Rt125-1, as I would assume they used the same saddles on both bikes.

Greetz,

Lex Schmidt

Peter answered:

Hi Lex,

The correct Pagusa rubber for NZ350-1 is the one with script Pagusa logo.

Peter

Thanks Peter,

Now over to the next question, is anybody making the "script" Pagusa covers??
And, as I think nobody is making them, what is the best alternative?

All the original round logo covers:

I saw mould dates between '51 and '65.

The DKW Logo covers:

I do not know the date at all, is it prewar or postwar?

Only saw one script logo pagusa cover, but it was unusable, and do not have a picture, does anyone else has one??

Hope we can make this subject clear for once and for all! I have looked at many NZ pictures, and there are a variety os covers used.

Greetz,

Lex Schmidt

Hi Lex,
This is the only picture of scripted Pagusa seat I've got right now.
I hope it's clear to see how it looks like.

Thanks again Peter!

Can you tell me who in Poland is making them?
I will be going to the Lodz veteran market in May, so could buy some there.

Are you going there?

Hi Lex,

They are made by Mr. Bozecki. He always has a place in front of main entrance (central square with grass). He has lights, glass and rubber repros.
Yes, I'm going there :)
Perhaps we could meet there?

Yes that would be a good idea! email me direct at: welbike(at)welbike.net to exchange info etc.
I'll only be there friday and saturday, maybe you could give mr. Bozecki a ring, to ask if he can bring 2 pieces for me?

Hi all,

Thanks to Peter I got my saddle covers, He had on his display, a note with the saddle, that it was used up to 1944 on DKW's and BMW's, surely this must be 1945, see picture:

Tried to get an email address or telephone number for Mr. Bozecki, but he said he didn't have any cards, and would not write it down!? (little language barrier)

So only possibility is to go to the markets he goes to, and buy it there!!

Did not find much else on the polish market, some Lucas lamps for British bikes) but it was nice to be there anyway, and talk to Peter and Maciek, who are on this forum too.

Cheers,

Hello Peter !

Do you know if the guy also visits german markets as the Veterama in Mannheim ?? As many other traders from eastern europe (oldtimergarage for ex) are there this may be possible ...

Jens
