engine trouble

Hi everyone,

i have a DKW NZ 350 civinlian type. I experienced a problem a while ago: after a 10 minute drive the clutch seemed to be slipping (the engine runs, but the power doesn't seem to transmit to the wheels.)
When I shut down the engine and put the gear in 1st, the piston doesn't move when I push it.
I tried to solve the problem by completely replacing the old clutch ring (corked) by new ones because they seemed to be worn down.
Now after a year of fixing brakes etc, I did my first test drive and the same problem popped up again. No movement at all in gear after a 10 minute drive.
It seemes that everytime the engine warms up i don't get the power transmitted to the chain.

Is there anyone that has experienced the same problem and/or has a sollution for it?

Might it be a problem with the gears?

It would help me a lot!!

Hi Björn,

if the bike cools down after the "10 minutes desaster" is everything Ok again?

yes,

if I start the next day, everything works fine again.... for 10 minutes

Hi,

I would suggest that you check the adjustment of the push rod. ensure the screw cap on the side cover is not screwed in too far, you need some free play here. Release the clutch cable at the handlebar end, screw the cap in till slight resistance is felt, then undo 1/2 to 1 turn. There should be about 3mm free play at the clutch lever, some clutch cables are not the correct length, the correct dimensions are given on this site.
